Sprinkle, Sprinkle Cinnamon!

A dash of cinnamon in your daily coffee/oatmeal/cereal can help you stay in shape.

How?
Cinnamon causes your body to absorb carbohydrates much more slowly and lowers your blood sugar level which both will lower your insulin level. Insulin is a hormone that converts excess sugar into fat, which is a culprit that contributes to weight gain.

Even as little as 1/2 teaspoon of this sweet spice a day can improve your blood sugar content by 24 percent and cholesterol levels by 18 percent.

Amazing, isn’t it? sprinkle, sprinkle!

It’s a perfect day to make a delicious Oatmeal Yoghurt Mask!

If the idea of making your own skin care sounds appealing to you, here’s a recipe for Oatmeal Yogurt Mask for you to try. It is chemical-free and delish!!

What to prepare:
1 tablespoon of finely ground oatmeal
1 tablespoon of plain yoghurt, avoid the flavored varieties.
a few drop of honey

Instructions:
- Mix yoghurt and oatmeal in a small bowl.
- Add a few drops of warm honey. The trick to warm the honey is to warm a spoon under hot water for minute, then add a few drop of honey to the spoon.
- You can experiment with the proportions of each ingredient to achieve the consistency you like.
- Apply the mask on your face and leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Wash it off with warm water, gently rub the mask on your face. The oatmeal will gently slough off dead cells to reveal a bright complexion underneath.

The benefits:
1. Oatmeal

Oatmeal is hypoallergenic and an emollient that soothes and decreases itching in skin conditions like eczema, rashes, and hives. It also acts as a natural exfoliant that helps to decrease breakouts due to clogged pores.

2. Yoghurt
It has all the wonderful nutrients and minerals that has mild astringent and bleaching effects. The high zinc content in it keeps your skin blemish-free and reduces the size of your pores. Yoghurt is also an excellent natural moisturizer because it adds enzymes and oils to the skin, making the skin soft and supple.
Use a natural or organic variety of plain yogurt. If you have oily skin, use non-fat yogurt.

3. Honey
Honey’s ability to absorb and retain moisture in your skin makes it a key to soft, supple and well-hydrated skin. The mild antimicrobial effect keeps away blemishes and spots. Honey also keeps wrinkles at bay because it protects the skin from the sun damage and neutralizes some of the effects of previous sun damage (thanks to its antioxidant effects).
The darker the honey, the stronger its antioxidant effects.

7 beauty ideas of what to do with Petroleum Jelly!

So, I hung out with my dear friends the other day. Great people, I must say.
Some of them love makeup very, very much they wouldn’t be caught dead without it on. Some others think applying makeup is a nuisance, they wouldn’t be caught alive wearing it. While the rest, just don’t care. But guess what, one thing we all have in common – a good tube of petroleum jelly.

No surprise, most of people use it as moisturizer for lips and skin or as a makeup remover. Tyra Banks swears it is what makes her skin soft and we all know that Tyra never lies. If not, her art of smizing wouldn’t look so honest, would it? The eyes are the windows to the soul.

If you get creative, you can use it for almost everything! No kidding. Here are 7 (out of millions) other beauty uses of petroleum jelly you can try:

1.Make your own makeup
There are times, at the editorial shoots, when I can’t really get the exact colors or effects I want. Of course, I can’t afford to buy ALL the colors and makeup in the universe.
Thus, I have to make do and be creative;
- If you mix your favorite powder blush or lipstick(s) with Vaseline, you’ll get a moisturizing cream blusher.
- To prevent eyeshadow fallout, mix your powder eyeshadow with a little Vaseline to
make it easier to apply and less messy.
- Mix a lipstick with Vaseline, you’ll get a tinted lipbalm. You can also mix several lip colors to make your own custom made lipstick.

2. Make your perfume scent last longer
Keep topping up perfume throughout the day can be troublesome. Dab a bit of petroleum jelly on your pulse points, then spray on the perfume. This trick will help you save money and make your bag a lot lighter, too.

3. Strengthen eyelashes
Apply a coat on your eyelashes before you go to bed. It makes your lashes grow longer and thicker over time.

4. Messy manicures no more!

The challenge of doing home manicures is to keep the nail polish from running over on your cuticles. Try dab some petroleum jelly along the base of your nails and the sides. If the polish seeps off the nail during the manicure, all you have to do is wipe off the petroleum jelly. The sloppy nail polish is gone, your manicures look more professional and say hello to softer and better looking cuticles.

5. Avoid hair dye stains
You can avoid hair dye stains by dabbing a generous amount of Vaseline around the hairline around the face and neck line before dying hair.

6. Good Exfoliator
Mix Vaseline with brown sugar and start rubbing the dead skin off.
Alternatively, apply a generous amount of Vaseline on your lips. Leave it a few minutes, then scrub your lips with a toothbrush to exfoliate. Don’t forget to moisturize after that.

7. Remove lipstick stains
No more frustrations in removing lipstick smudges on clothes. The emollients designed to help lipstick stay on your lips do a good job sticking to fabric, too. Before you wash the lipstick-stained clothes, blot petroleum jelly on the stain. Launder as usual and hopefully the stain will be gone.

Now, isn’t petroleum jelly the greatest invention ever?
What do you use your petroleum jelly for?

How to lighten the dark patches on elbows and knees?

Sprinkle some sugar onto half a lemon and rub into the dark area. For those who are sensitive to the citric acid in lemon juice, dilute it with a bit of water.
This will help to exfoliate and bleach the skin naturally.

It is not advisable that you apply lemon juice to your skin before sun exposure as it makes the skin more sensitive to the sun.

An instant brow lift in 5 seconds!

Brace yourselves, girls (and boys)!!
This might be one of the answers to your beauty prayers for an instant brow lift.
The little secret is using champagne-color highlighter right above the brow line to create a prominent and face-framing brow line.

I love Nars Alhambra duo eyeshadow. The colors are just right. They are well pigmented and have this buttery consistency that makes it easy to blend. On a lazy day, swipe the champagne shade all over for a nice glowy nude eye look.

Curl your lashes, with a spoon!

You can use spoon to curl your lashes and prevent mascara smudges in one step. Some women say that a spoon works even better than a modern eyelash curler.

How?

Here’s the trick:

1. Pick up a medium spoon.

2. This step is optional. Use a blow dryer to heat the spoon. It should be warm, not hot. You don’t want to scald the most sensitive part of your face.

3. Hold the spoon by the handle so that the scooped or concave side is facing outward.

4. With the concave side against your eyelashes, start the application of the mascara.

5. Press the bowed-out side gently to your bottom lashes, so that the lashes curl downward. Apply mascara.

Voila! The shape of the spoon will give your lashes the alluring effect.
Does it work for you? It does for me. Let me know! :)

The Brow Rules

1.  If your eyebrows are wild, tame them with a clean toothbrush. It’s cheaper than a brow comb but works just as well. To give them a healthy-looking shine, apply a light slick of Vaseline.

2.  In general, thicker brow works for ladies with prominent bone structure while the thinner brows enhance smaller framed faces.

3. Brow stencils may look tempting because it’s easier to use and faster. Everyone’s brow bones are unique. Stenciling on a ‘standardized’ brow will make you look ridiculous. It’s like wearing someone else’s dentures. So, for the goodness of mankind, leave it to the professionals.

4. Go for a professional eyebrow shaping to avoid disasters and misery. Your homework is to pluck the strays that pop up between the visits. To minimize the pain, pluck right after the hot shower when the follicles are more open and hair will come out easier.

Looking ghostly in Photographs. What went wrong?

We will never say this mantra enough, “sunscreen, sunscreen!”.
Do you hate it when your high-SPF sunscreen leaves a noticeable white cast that looks ghostly on your face? Exactly.

If you notice your face is unusually white in the photograph, (and Casper the friendly ghost is not the look you are going for) you might want to check the ingredients in your foundation. Titanium dioxide is a common ingredient in foundations, because it’s very opaque, so it’s good at concealing skin flaws. But it also has the ability to scatter light rays, which is why it makes a good physical sunblock.

If your foundation has Titanium Dioxide in it, it might be the culprit that’s reflecting a lot of white light which shows up in your photographs. So, you might want to skip makeup with built-in sunblock that contains Titanium Oxide if you know there’ll be photographs taken. Or alternatively, you can apply the foundation to all exposed skin to create an even skin tone, if you don’t mind the splurge.
